Train Sim World 3 is a realistic train driving simulator where you perform from day-to-day service to unique scenarios gameplay. West Cornwall Steam Railtour Add-On is an expansion scenario pack of the existing West Cornwall Local: Penzance - St Austell & St Ives. It brings the Steam Train onto the route, allowing players to drive and recreate historical moments during the 1990s.
Route Overview

The West Cornwall Steam Railtour was an additional side assignment over the main project of Scotrail Express. The West Cornwall Steam Railtour would use the existing from Train Sim World 3: Spirit of Steam: Liverpool Lime Street - Crewe Route Add-On assets from Dovetails Games' work and Train Sim World: West Cornwall Local: Penzance - St Austell & St Ives.

My research consisted of historical and real-life inspired events that later be implemented into my gameplay designs with the five scenarios. Each tour and situational focuses on players interacting with the game world and reliving history. Additionally, I worked on a training mode for new players to learn about steam trains as the operating functions are complicated to work with for beginners. Moreover, train services got added to the timetable mode.

Unlike the previous routes, the steam trains suffered technical issues. These included the pre-design scenario prototypes reiterated with a few unique gameplay ideas removed on the final release. The steam train aimed to simulate real life as closely as possible, meaning the uneven terrain caused a lot of weight and power. The reworked solutions involved a lot of additional steps and workarounds that provided the support with the steam train needed to complete the scenarios.
